Nurture African Youth Network -NAYNET in Partnership with CGC transform 150 Girls in holidays Through Hands-On Skills in Wakiso.

Yesterday 5th May, 2026 at St. Marks College- Namagoma, what began as a simple holiday program blossomed into a powerful journey of empowerment for 150 girls. Facilitators from Nurture African Youth Network (NAYNET), with support from Concern for Girl Child, led an inspiring hands-on training in the production of petroleum jelly, shampoo, and chalk. The initiative transformed ordinary materials into symbols of possibility and self-reliance.

Amid laughter, teamwork, and discovery, the girls learned practical skills that extend far beyond the classroom. Each step—measuring, mixing, and molding—was a lesson in creativity, discipline, and enterprise. The program strongly emphasized social entrepreneurship, showing participants how small-scale production can evolve into sustainable businesses that address community needs while generating income and independence.

Addressing the participants, Kamurasi Ricky Rickide, Executive Director of NAYNET, urged stakeholders to actively invest in equipping young people with relevant, lifelong skills. He highlighted that nurturing children’s talents and empowering youth through such initiatives is not just a goal, but a shared vision and dream for a resilient and self-sustaining society.

Looking forward, NAYNET announced its upcoming 2nd Edition of the Uganda National Primary Schools Debate, Poetry and Speech Championship scheduled for July 2026 at St. Marys Primary School – Limuli. The organization has called upon partners, sponsors, and stakeholders to support this impactful platform, which continues to amplify young voices, inspire creativity, and shape the next generation of leaders.
