The Public Perspectives Press,
Following the conclusion of the declaration of results for various Member of Parliament positions in the 2026 General Elections, the Electoral Commission has officially confirmed winners across Greater Kampala and surrounding districts. The results reflect a competitive political landscape marked by strong performances from the National Unity Platform (NUP), the National Resistance Movement (NRM), and Independent candidates.
In Kampala District, NUP dominated most constituencies, securing victories in Makindye East through Ali Kasirye Nganda alias Mulyanyama and Mala Zahara Luyirika, Lubaga North with Abubaker Kawalya, Lubaga South with Eugenia Nassolo, Kawempe North through Elias Luyimbazi Nalukoola, Nakawa West with Joel Ssenyonyi, and the Woman MP seat won by Shamim Malende. NRM retained Kampala Central through Hajjat Minsa Kabanda, Kawempe South via Madinah Nsereko Ntale, and Nakawa East with Fredrick Ruhindi.
Wakiso District recorded mixed outcomes. NUP secured the Woman MP seat through Betty Ethel Naluyima, alongside victories in Kira Municipality (George Musisi), Nansana Municipality (Zambali Bulasio Mukasa), Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality (David Sserukenya), and Kyadondo East (Muwada Nkuyinji).
NRM won Entebbe Municipality with Shaka Bashaija and Busiro South through Apio Kanan, while Emmanuel Magoola claimed Busiro East as an Independent. Busiro North was won by Moses Mayanja.
In Mukono District, NUP registered a clean sweep. Amanyiyo Sheilah won the Woman MP seat, while Betty Nambooze Bakireke, Kiwanuka Abdullah, Robert Maseruka, and Sulaiman Kiwanuka secured Mukono Municipality, Mukono North, Mukono South, and Nakifuma County respectively.
Mityana District reflected a split vote. NRM’s Judith Nabakooba retained the Woman MP seat, while Muhammad Nsegumire Kibedi and Kamya Makumbi won in Mityana North. NUP captured Mityana Municipality through Francis Zaake Butebi and Busujju County with David Lukyamuzi Kalwanga.
In Luweero District, NUP achieved sweeping victories, with Brendah Nabukenya winning the Woman MP seat, alongside Denis Ssekabira (Katikamu North), Hassan Kirumira (Katikamu South), and Robert Sekitoleko (Bamunanika County).
Nakaseke District remained firmly under NRM control, with victories by Sarah Najjuma (Woman MP), Charles Nsereko (Nakaseke South), Kabuye Kyofatogabye (Nakaseke Central), and Wilberforce Ahebwa (Nakaseke North).
In Nakasongola District, NRM secured the Woman MP seat through Victoria Zawedde and Budyebo County via Berunado Kimeze Ssebugga, while NUP’s Ivan Kyeyune won Nakasongola County.
Butambala District stood out with Independent candidates sweeping both seats, as Lydia Mirembe Delphine won the Woman MP position and Eriasa Mukiibi Sserunjoji claimed the county seat.
In Gomba District, NRM’s Sylvia Nayebale won the Woman MP seat, while Ssazi Godfrey (NUP) and Robinah Rwakojo (NRM) shared victories in Gomba East.
Mpigi District saw Teddy Nambooze (NUP) win the Woman MP seat, as NRM’s Amelia Kyambadde and Suzan Nakawuki Nsambu retained Mawokota North and South respectively.
In Kayunga District, NUP secured the Woman MP seat through Harriet Nakwedde and Bbale County via Charles Tebandeke, while NRM held Ntenjeru South with Fred Baseke and Ntenjeru North through Amos Lugolobi.
Finally, Kasanda District largely favored NRM, with Atukunda Rebecca (Woman MP), Bisaso Abdul (Kasanda South), and Kyabikoola Yiga (Bukuya County) emerging victorious, while NUP’s Patrick Nsamba Oshabe won Kasanda North.
The outcomes underscore a politically diverse Greater Kampala region, with urban centers largely favoring opposition representation and rural districts maintaining strong NRM support.
