Some of our senior and most respected leaders appear to have missed the core ideology of the NRA as taught by H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Recently, H.E. clearly demonstrated this principle while addressing the disagreement between Rt Hon. AAA and Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga. RAK raised concerns questioning how a newcomer could assume a position of prominence- an analogy likened to a new Muslim becoming an Imam .
In response, H.E. emphasized that the strength of the NRM has never come from division, but from unity of purpose. He cautioned against engaging in factional disputes based on seniority, noting that such considerations are not the foundation upon which the Movement was built. H.E highlighted some of mistakes that costed UPC/ DP being the split: Omufunguro vs. Enkomba . (Staunch UPC vs Diluted)
Mzee further guided that what should unite all members is not internal competition, but service to the people of Uganda. The wananchi are the reason the NRM exists, and their interests must always take precedence over personal ambitions or group rivalries.
Many of us appreciated H.E.’s wisdom as usual and clearly understood his guidance.
However, the remarks by Rt. Hon. AAA suggesting that Norbert Mao should remain “in the compound” due to being NRM member by a cooperation/ a newcomer may have been misjudged. Such statements could be interpreted as inconsistent with the President’s guidance. In my view, it would be prudent for AAA to acknowledge this and offer an apology.
